Cards for Callie

Callie feeding her baby sister Sienna
Today our fourth graders reviewed the "CORRECT" value traits of Courage and Empathy when we discussed our school donations for Pennies for Patients and the upcoming St. Jude Mathathon.  We had a chance to make some Valentine cards today for a very special little princess named Callie.  Three year old Callie is in remission from leukemia and is finally home after four extended stays at the hospital for chemotherapy.  We watched a sweet video that was put together from her parents, Kathryn and Ryan.  Feel free to check out the Cure for Callie Facebook page or click here to watch her video.

January Book Reviews

The fourth graders read a Biography book in January.  After reading, they created a beautiful cover for their report with a creative illustration that shows something important about their famous person. They wrote a five paragraph essay including experiences and contributions that made this person famous, qualities they admire, and historical facts learned while reading.  The students also created a puppet of their famous person holding something that represents their subject and shared an oral report with the class.
